One again the BBC puts the blame squarely on drivers for killing almost 2,000 people and severely injuring thousands more in the second episode of its programme ‘How Safe are British Roads?‘ . Shame on them!
According to the BBC we drivers are responsible for killing and severely injuring all these people by:
- Failing to look
- Talking on our mobile phones
- Watching DVDs while driving
- Putting on makeup
- Not using seat belts
- In car distractions
- Driving after drinking alcohol
- Driving with sleep deprivation
- Drug driving
- Jumping red lights
- Playing with our car radio
- Fiddling with our Satnav
- Not obeying stop signs
- Overtaking on bends
- Slow reaction time
In addition to these reasons the presenters go on to name and shame specific groups of drivers: young men for taking risks with others lives by speeding; old people for being slow to react; men for speeding; women for not looking properly at junctions.
Who causes the most danger on our roads?
Not once did the BBC mention the real menace to us all. We all know who they are. We see them all the time. Why don’t the BBC tell us how many people are killed or seriously injured by pavement cycling Ipod wearing non-helmeted bicyclists?
Why are police wasting their resources filming and fining drivers just for talking on our mobiles while bicyclists freely roam on our pavements and jump red lights.
We’ll be driving to work on December 11th to protest this ongoing war against the motorist.
So… The war continues! But be aware…
For every cyclist jumping lights, there’s thousands of car drivers speeding.
For every cyclist riding on pavements there’s thousands of cars tailgating.
If a cyclist pulls out in front of a car, the cyclist loses out. If a car pulls out in front of a cyclist the cyclist loses out. A car travels many times the speed of a cyclist and weighs an average of 15 times as much. But still the self-righteous, hypocritical, institutionalised motorists still don’t get it do they!!!
Go on, tell everyone how many people are killed and seriously injured every year by these pedal freaks!
We can’t rely on Aunty Beeb, so put it on your website and show how these spokey nutters murder and maim without care, and just cycle away without a scratch into the sunset.
Lets get rid of the menace!
See you all on the 11th when I will forgo my normal journey to work to support all other oppressed motorists by using my car.
Around 0.5 people are killed annually by pavement cycling. The police really must clamp down on such behaviour. (Between 50-60 people are killed annually by drivers going onto the pavement)
I like the picture you have used for this article, I would happily let her distract me.
